Activities related to wine and cava:

Penedès is famous for its millenial tradition of wine and cava making and vineyard growing. Its wines have achieved a considerable international prestige through the years. Here you will have with easy reach all you need to know and enjoy this product that determines the life of the whole region: wine/cava cellars visits, wine tastings, good restaurants...

Gastronomy

The offer, which is really varied, has as its most remarcable traditional element the poultry, specifically the famous Penedes mute ducks and the Penedès rooster. The “xató” is another typical catalan dish from the regions of Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès and Garraf. It is a sauce made with almonds, hazelnuts, breadcrumbs, vinegar, garlic, olive oil, salt, and the nyora pepper. Xató is often served with an endive salad prepared with anchovy, tuna and baccala. The "Xató Route" is formed by the following Catalonian towns: Canyelles, Calafell, Cubelles, Cunit, El Vendrell, Sant Pere de Ribes, Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú. There is a recipe for each town of the "Xató Route".
As for the confectionery, one won't forget the "catànies" of Vilafranca, the "gelidencs" from Gelida, the "cakes of the widows" from Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the Noiets of Sant Sadurní, or the "carquinyolis" from Sant Quintí or Torrelles de Foix.
